Let it Burn? Forest Service's New All-out Fire Suppression Policy is a Dangerous Move, Critics Say
The US Forestry Service has ordered firefighters to extinguish all wildfires across the nation. There is also a ban on prescribed fires and are not allowing small fires to burn themselves out in a controlled manner. This stems from the number of uncontrolled wildfires blazing across the US currently. The problem lies that without controlled prescribed burns, there will be an increased amount of fuel load, which is dry fallen material that could easily cause a huge blaze in uncontrolled conditions. This will cause more intense fires in the future that are not as easily controlled and could potentially cause more damage and loss of life and property when fires do break out.
